Fundraise at your place of worship
Bring people together and help support people facing homelessness in South Essex.
Fundraise at your place of worship
HARP’s roots date back to 1990 when Serving the Homeless was established as an ecumenical charity, bringing together Catholic, Anglican, and Methodist churches in Leigh-on-Sea. More than 36 years later, we remain deeply grateful for the ongoing support from congregations of all faiths in our community.
How we will support you
- A dedicated contact
When you support HARP, you become part of a compassionate community working together to support people facing homelessness. You’ll have a named contact, Lucy, Community Fundraising and Engagement Coordinator, who will be there to support you throughout your journey, from planning through to celebrating all that you achieve together.
- Fundraising resources and materials
We’ll provide everything you need to support your fundraising or collections, including collection tins, branded materials, posters, and a helpful fundraising pack. Whether it’s a coffee morning, special service, or seasonal appeal, we’re here to help you make it a success.
- Talks, assemblies and visits
We would love to visit your church or group. I can come along to speak about HARP’s work, share real stories, and help your congregation understand the impact of their support. We’re always happy to work around your services, meetings, or events.
- Impact updates and thank yous
We know how important it is to see the difference your support is making. We’ll share updates showing how your generosity has helped — from providing meals and support, to helping people rebuild their lives and move towards independence.
- Recognition and promotion
We’re incredibly grateful for the support of churches and faith groups. With your permission, we’ll share your fundraising in our communications, celebrating your kindness and helping inspire others to come together in support of people experiencing homelessness.
My congregation and the scouts are so glad they could help! I cannot think of anything that could be done differently and would be happy to do something similar next year for HARP. Many blessings for you and HARP especially for the winter season

Ways you can get involved
Passover
Passover is a time of reflection, compassion and supporting those in need, making it a meaningful opportunity to stand alongside people experiencing homelessness. Fundraising during this time helps HARP provide practical support and create pathways out of homelessness, ensuring more people can move towards safety and stability.
Eid
Eid fundraising is a meaningful way to support people experiencing homelessness, reflecting the spirit of generosity and community at the heart of the celebration. It helps HARP provide vital support, ensuring more people can access food, warmth and a pathway towards stability.
Harvest
Harvest collections come at a time when many people are quietly struggling, helping HARP provide essential food and support before the pressures of winter begin to build. Every donation strengthens our ability to respond early, offering stability, dignity and reassurance when it’s needed most.
Diwali
Diwali, the festival of light, is a powerful time to share hope, generosity and community with those who need it most. Fundraising during this celebration helps HARP provide vital support and brighter pathways forward for people experiencing homelessness.
Christmas
Christmas can be one of the hardest times for people experiencing homelessness, when cold weather, isolation and the pressure of the season collide, making support more vital than ever. Fundraising during this time helps HARP keep doors open, provide warmth, food and connection, and remind people they are not forgotten when it matters most.
