Thursday 9th May saw history being made in Southend as Counsellor Ron Woodley became the city’s first independent mayor. There is further reason to celebrate as HARP have been chosen along with the Jude Harvey Foundation as Mayor Woodley’s chosen charities. Trustees Mac Felton and Peter Thorn along with Director of Fundraising and Comms Agata Elliott and Director of Finance & HR Jackie Saxby attended the ceremony at Southend Civic Centre. Speaking at the ceremony Mr. Woodley said “I’m nominating HARP as my charity as I believe no one in today’s age should be living on the streets and I really thank them for being here”

This is a huge honour for HARP and we look forward to working with the mayor to raise awareness and work towards a Southend where no one is forced to live on the streets.
